Well, let me tell you, before I found out I was pregnant, the world I was living in was beautiful, but something was missing. And I think that most women go through this.
Working in an office finally brought some stability to my life here in the Netherlands because I am originally from Romania. Life there wasn’t enough to survive at a normal rate.
As an outsider here, you cannot do the job you have in your country (I was a hairdresser) because I did not speak the language, so I took a warehouse job—lower work, but the salary was good. My life at that point, before the positive pregnancy test, was work, home, work, home. I went out sometimes, but living in a small town meant there wasn’t really much to do. Life wasn’t offering too much, but I was happy and content with myself, just as my husband was.
When I started working at the office in a company, I was finally seen. I found some people I could communicate with because, in the warehouse, it was hard to connect with so many different nationalities. The office mostly had Dutch people, which I thought would be easier to navigate.
Nope, not easy. Different culture, different jokes. Sometimes they were offended by my jokes because, in Romania, we have so many meanings to words, but Dutch people often get only one meaning in English.
Eh, this was the life I had before my princess.
One day, I was eating chips—the worst kind, let me tell you. Before this moment, I hated them. There were no other salty snacks at the office. Oh my God, they were amazing! I started eating around 3 to 4 bags a day, and then I thought that something was happening.
That day, I dreamed about my father, whom I lost almost five years ago. He was coming to me and brought my baby, somehow putting it into my womb. That day, after work, I said, “OK, this is it. I THINK I am pregnant.”
You cannot imagine the rush and excitement I felt when I took that test. It was the longest minute of my life to find out I was creating a human being. Can you imagine?
The most beautiful thing in this world is to give life; it is the greatest blessing.
This is it before .Next story tomorow the day after the POSITIVE.
